Domestic substitution achieved for oil used in ammonia compressors at Daqing Petrochemical Plant
On May 10th, it was learned that the Daqing Petrochemical Plant's second ketone-benzene unit successfully completed the oil change for its ammonia compressor, replacing imported special-purpose oil with domestically produced refrigeration oil. This not only broke the dependence on imports but also created considerable room for cost reduction, with procurement costs decreasing by 62.33% year-on-year, saving approximately 76,000 yuan per unit per oil change.
The ammonia compressor is the core equipment for the ketone-benzene unit's paraffin product production. Long-term reliance on imported refrigeration oil not only resulted in high procurement prices and long lead times but also made it prone to supply disruptions and delayed replenishment, placing multiple pressures on cost control and long-term stable operation of the unit.
To solve this problem, the ketone-benzene unit's equipment development team comprehensively reviewed operating parameters and conditions, conducted multiple rounds of performance testing and compatibility trials on domestic oils, and ultimately selected a domestically produced alternative oil that met the unit's operating conditions. After the first addition of the new oil and sufficient circulation under no-load and low-load conditions, the unit operated steadily, with vibration values remaining stable within the A and B range throughout. After 72 hours of operation, all oil samples tested were qualified, indicating good oil quality and no system leaks.
This localization of oil for ammonia compressors has not only significantly reduced procurement and maintenance costs, but also generated complete experience from technology selection and standardized operation to trial operation monitoring, providing replicable and scalable practical lessons for the localization of oil for similar equipment in the company.

Tuha Oilfield explores new ways to enhance oil recovery
As of May 17, after applying CCUS-EOR (Carbon Dioxide Capture, Utilization, and Storage - Enhanced Oil Recovery) technology in the Niujuanhu East Area of the Santanghu Oilfield, the Turpan-Hami Oilfield has achieved a cumulative increase in oil production of over 20,000 tons and a 1.4% increase in recovery rate, effectively doubling the production of the test block. The
Turpan-Hami Oilfield has diverse and complex reservoir types. With the continuous deepening of development, conventional reservoirs in older areas have high water cuts, while new areas are mainly developed using unconventional methods, leading to a rapid decline in production. Therefore, it is urgent to explore effective ways to improve recovery rates. After years of research, the Turpan-Hami Oilfield has successively overcome several technical challenges, including advanced water injection in "three-low" sandstone, oxygen-reduced air foam flooding in deep heavy oil, gravity miscible flooding of medium-to-high permeability light oil and natural gas, and CCUS-EOR in low-permeability and low-viscosity reservoirs.
To effectively utilize the low-pressure, ultra-low-permeability reserves in the Xishanyao area of the Niujuanhu Block, the Turpan-Hami Oilfield has explored and formed an advanced water injection development model. After its implementation across the region, this model has been continuously optimized and controlled, resulting in a series of technologies including mild water injection, supporting chemical profile control, and repeated fracturing. This has helped to gradually control the natural decline rate of sandstone reservoirs to below 10%.
The Lukeqin heavy oil reservoir is deeply buried with severe heterogeneity, characterized by "four highs and one medium"—high density, high viscosity, high pour point, high non-hydrocarbon content, and medium wax content. The technical team started with research on the oil displacement mechanism and ultimately constructed a "reduced oxygen air drive + huff and puff" technology system. After applying this technology, the recovery rate in the test block increased by more than 100%, exceeding 30%.
Regarding the potential tapping of old oilfields, addressing the challenges of high recovery rates and high water cut shutdowns in the Pubei oilfield, the team deepened their geological understanding and continuously optimized the natural gas gravity miscible flooding scheme, successfully expanding the swept volume and improving oil displacement efficiency.

Lanzhou Petrochemical adds a new "magic weapon" to its green production strategy
On May 17th, at the construction site of the 300,000-ton/year full-density polyethylene unit's ground flare exhaust gas modification project at Lanzhou Petrochemical, personnel were carrying out the "three checks and four determinations" work after the project's handover, preparing for commissioning.
This project is a key environmental protection project for Lanzhou Petrochemical in implementing the national "Action Plan for Continuous Improvement of Air Quality." By optimizing the exhaust gas treatment process, the project achieves dual control of daily exhaust gas recovery and utilization and emergency safe release, strengthening the environmental protection defense line from the source. The successful handover of the project marks the continuous improvement of Lanzhou Petrochemical's environmental governance system and a new stage in its fundamental environmental management level.
Since the project commenced in September 2025, Lanzhou Petrochemical has strictly implemented the three-stage progress plan of "preparation—full-density area shutdown construction—boiler unit shutdown construction," completing two key modifications with high quality. First, the ground flare gas of the full-density polyethylene unit was successfully introduced to the burners of boilers A and B, with simultaneous laying of nitrogen, instrument air, and other transmission pipelines, establishing a complete flare gas transmission and control system. Secondly, a basket filter was added and connected to the reserved port of the flare gas separator in the second ethylene plant to achieve closed-loop control of the entire production process and eliminate the disorderly emission of waste gas from the source.

Xinjiang Oilfield No. 1 Oil Production Plant Group Achieves Remarkable Results in Energy Storage Fracturing
As of May 15, the first batch of group-operated storage and fracturing wells at Xinjiang Oilfield's No. 1 Oil Production Plant (Hongshan Company) showed impressive production performance after commissioning. Five wells were producing oil on their own, with the well group increasing oil production by 15 tons per day, and an average daily increase of 1.7 tons per well.
The Keshang Formation reservoir in the Hong 60 well area of the No. 1 Oil Production Plant is a lithology-controlled structural reservoir, a typical medium-porosity, ultra-low-permeability reservoir with complex geological conditions. The block contains 29 oil and water wells. The large well spacing of 350 meters resulted in poor water drive performance, and the effectiveness of conventional fracturing measures deteriorated year by year, with a recovery rate of only 7.8%, indicating significant remaining potential.
To address this development challenge, the No. 1 Oil Production Plant, based on geological parameters, determined a "multi-round, group-based" storage and fracturing scheme, fracturing 15 wells in four rounds, including 13 fracturing wells and 2 storage wells. By differentiating the water injection volume using the material balance method and adding 0.2% oil displacement agent, the cumulative injection volume is expected to be approximately 150,000 cubic meters, with an average injection volume of 10,000 cubic meters per well. Simultaneously, a combined process of "temporary plugging within the fracture + fracture reversal" was employed, along with 90 days of well replacement to expand the fracture reach.
Significant results were achieved after the implementation of these measures. In the first round, the average injection pressure of the three wells increased by 1.8 MPa, effectively restoring formation energy. During the second round of energy storage, the pressure index and filling degree of wells 0325 and 0331 steadily increased, while the filling degree of well Hong 85 rapidly increased by 20.5% after the addition of temporary plugging agent. After production commenced, the daily oil production in the block steadily increased from the original 6 tons, with some wells achieving a leap in production, and the water cut continuously decreasing, verifying the feasibility of the technology.

North China Oilfield is promoting the construction of a "zero-carbon oilfield" in all aspects and across all sectors
On May 21, it was learned that the first wind turbine of the 150,000-kilowatt wind power project in Renqiu, North China Oilfield, was successfully installed, demonstrating the strong momentum of new energy development. Furthermore, North China Oilfield's oil and gas reserves and production both exceeded the levels of the same period last year. Traditional and emerging industries worked together to continuously solidify the energy supply foundation of the old oilfields in the east.
North China Oilfield is committed to building a new energy system, taking the balance between reserves and production as the lifeline for sustainable oil and gas development, continuously transforming its development model, and enhancing the value creation capacity of SEC reserves while steadily increasing reserves and production.
Strengthening energy supply and consolidating the "basic foundation" of energy security, North China Oilfield has included stabilizing the reserve-to-production ratio in its annual key projects, focusing on SEC reserves, deepening integrated collaboration, and accelerating the improvement of resource conversion efficiency. The oilfield is focusing on strategic directions such as the deep layers of the Hetao Plain, the oil-rich depressions in the western Hebei slope zone, and the Lenghu New Area of the Qaidam Basin, striving for major breakthroughs and discoveries in new areas, new strata, new types, and new fields to increase the total SEC reserves. Meanwhile, the integrated geological engineering technology was used to increase the daily output of single wells, breaking through the technical bottlenecks restricting capacity construction, systematically promoting the "ballast stone" project and comprehensive management of old oilfields, and improving the development efficiency of old oilfields.
On April 30, the daily oil production of the Suning-Dawangzhuang "ballast stone" project increased by 3.5% compared with the end of last year; new progress was made in the exploration of the Shulu Depression in the Jizhong Depression and the Bayindulan Depression in the Erlian Basin, with a significant breakthrough in the average daily oil production of new wells in old exploration areas, promoting a virtuous cycle between reserves and production.
Accelerating green transformation and cultivating a "new pattern" of the energy system, the oilfield actively optimized the energy structure of oil and gas production, promoting clean alternatives such as "electricity replacing oil and electricity replacing heat." At the same time, relying on the existing resources of the oilfield, photovoltaic and wind power projects were deployed on a large scale, generating green value from idle space. The flexible intelligent control of oil and water wells in the Ha34 fault block of the Erlian Oilfield, coupled with the application of photovoltaic/solar thermal new energy, increased the proportion of green electricity to 14%.
North China Oilfield is comprehensively advancing the construction of a "zero-carbon oilfield" across all sectors, promoting and upgrading demonstration projects for new power systems integrating oil, gas, and new energy, and coordinating the layout of key projects such as geothermal cascade utilization and the Mengxi CCUS project. To date, North China Oilfield has completed 50% of its annual geothermal market development target, and the CCUS project has injected over 100,000 tons of carbon this year.
Emphasis is placed on technological innovation to forge new momentum for the industrial chain. The oilfield adheres to innovation-driven development, fostering an atmosphere that encourages exploration and tolerates failure in theoretical innovation, supporting researchers to challenge traditional understandings and guide new exploration and development practices with innovative theories. On the one hand, for key core technologies such as the reservoir formation mechanism of the Lenghu block, efficient development of ultra-deep clastic reservoirs, and efficient production enhancement of coalbed methane horizontal wells, professional and institutional barriers are broken down, and innovative consortia and "challenge-based" projects are used as leverage to form a concerted effort. On the other hand, the innovation ecosystem is improved, constructing a full-chain system of "basic research + technological breakthroughs +成果转化" (achievement transformation), promoting the rapid transformation of scientific and technological innovation achievements into real productivity. Since the beginning of the year, the oilfield has successfully promoted and applied its independently developed innovative technologies, such as layer well network reconstruction and intelligent injection in high-temperature deep wells, helping old oilfields solve the problem of resource succession.

Breakthrough achieved in production profile logging at Bayan Oilfield, North China Oilfield
On May 6, it was learned that the Xinghua 12-44X well, the core production well of the CCUS-EOR pilot test in the Bayan Oilfield of North China Oilfield, successfully completed production profile logging operations. This marks a major breakthrough in conventional production profile logging for high-pour-point self-flowing oil wells in North China Oilfield.
Production profile refers to the process of clearly defining the production ratio and flow rate of oil, water, and carbon dioxide in each perforated section of an oil and gas production well, identifying the main oil-producing layer, low-efficiency layer, gas-producing layer, and water-bearing layer, and determining the distribution, migration direction, and breakthrough location of carbon dioxide in the wellbore and formation. This provides necessary data for subsequent gas channeling control, regulation, and improvement of swept volume.
Faced with the challenge of having no mature experience to follow, Bayan Oilfield, together with CNPC logging and professional technical service teams, formed a task force to carry out comprehensive technical research and development. During construction, a professional supervisor directed the operation on-site, ensuring smooth coordination among all four parties involved and shortening the overall construction time.
This included the coordinated use of heated cables to insulate the blowout preventer in the production profile logging, minimizing temperature loss in the wellbore and at the wellhead. After 35 hours of continuous work, the team achieved perfect equipment compatibility, high-quality data acquisition, and a successful first-time process. This breakthrough is of profound significance. From a data value perspective, the complete and accurate production profile data obtained provides a scientific basis for carbon dioxide miscible flooding, reservoir development understanding, and comprehensive management decisions. From an experiential value perspective, this successful exploration has accumulated a complete set of "high-pour-point oil self-flowing production profile" technologies and management experience, forming a replicable and scalable "Bayan Solution," providing a practical model for logging operations in similar high-pour-point oil wells.

Bayan Oilfield achieves simultaneous increases in production and stability
As of May 25, the Bayan Oilfield of North China Oilfield had a cumulative crude oil production of nearly 700,000 tons this year, with a daily output of 4,800 tons, a year-on-year increase of 20%, accounting for 30% of the daily crude oil production of North China Oilfield. The SEC reserve-to-production ratio has been steadily improving, achieving both volume and efficiency increases.
Since the beginning of this year, Bayan Oilfield has adhered to the principle of "finding productive reserves, building productive capacity, and achieving profitable output." Relying on integrated exploration and development, geological engineering, and technical and economic analysis, it has prioritized the use of high-efficiency blocks, focusing on key issues such as efficient reservoir utilization and optimized drilling and completion methods. It has concentrated its efforts on tackling technologies to accelerate and improve the efficiency of production capacity construction, ensuring high compliance rates, rapid production ramp-up, low investment, and high returns for newly built capacity. Engineering and technical personnel have accelerated breakthroughs in wellbore technology, developing anti-channeling cement slurry, applying high-toughness anti-corrosion cement slurry to construct sealing barriers, and optimizing reservoir protection technologies. The pass rates for wellbore quality and cementing quality have remained at the highest. Simultaneously, drilling technology upgrades have been strengthened, promoting the application of drilling-while-drilling reaming technology, optimizing drilling fluid performance, selecting optimal drill string combinations, and continuously advancing large-well cluster factory-style drilling, effectively shortening the average drilling cycle. To date, 13 new wells have been completed, with the construction progress increasing by 30% year-on-year, and the completed production capacity reaching 90,000 tons.
To increase single-well production, Bayan Oilfield developers have meticulously adjusted water injection parameters, implemented pipeline pressure-based water injection and acidizing enhancement, and rationally replenished formation energy. In the Xinghua 1 block, based on the development of a subdivided strata using a "three-set vertical well + two-set horizontal well" reverse nine-point well network, targeted water diversion measures such as reversing water drive and reducing water injection intensity have been adopted, resulting in a current daily oil production of 2,800 tons. Through detailed reservoir characterization of the Jilantai oilfield, the traditional water injection method in the Jihua 1 block has been upgraded to "vertical and horizontal well volumetric fracturing + bottom area water injection," with 80 production wells already showing positive effects. Developers have also strengthened the operation and maintenance of the produced water treatment system, implementing pulse resonance scaling and filter replacement, maintaining high levels of efficiency in the water injection system, and achieving compliance rates for both the outflow water and wellhead water.
Facing the unique geology of the reservoirs, Bayan Oilfield developers actively explore strategies for increasing and stabilizing production and improving oil recovery, innovating personalized reservoir development models and constructing a diversified displacement technology sequence to effectively support the large-scale and efficient development of resources. The Jihua 2 block is a sandstone and conglomerate reservoir. Due to the reservoir's high dip angle and strong water sensitivity, a combination of top and waist point-based oxygen-reduced air injection and edge and bottom water injection was employed for development, resulting in a daily oil production exceeding 400 tons. The CCUS pilot project was steadily implemented, establishing three pilot test areas targeting different oil-bearing strata, reservoir types, and well patterns and spacings. A total of 240,000 tons of carbon dioxide were injected, resulting in a cumulative oil production of 180,000 tons, and the CCUS enhanced oil recovery technology has been initially established.

Lanzhou Petrochemical solves the problem of resource recycling
On May 18, construction workers were working in an orderly manner at the site of the new 110-ton/hour acidic water stripping unit project of Lanzhou Petrochemical.
For a long time, Lanzhou Petrochemical's two existing sour water stripping units have had to operate at 120% load to barely maintain a "tight balance" of sour water in the refining area. Project manager Gao Yunpeng stated that with stricter national environmental protection requirements and the planned implementation of new facilities, the total amount of sour water is expected to exceed 370 tons/hour, and the existing processing capacity is insufficient to support production optimization and future development.
After the new unit is completed, the total sour water processing capacity will increase from 230 tons/hour to 340 tons/hour, completely breaking the "tight balance" predicament. Simultaneously, the unit adopts mature technology that can effectively separate hydrogen sulfide and ammonia from the sour water, recovering them as liquid ammonia and sulfur respectively. The purified water is then returned to atmospheric and vacuum distillation units for reuse, forming a green closed loop of resource recycling.

Tarim Oilfield Keshen 41 Well Sets Two Records
On May 11, reporters learned from Tarim Oilfield that the Keshen 41 well officially went into production, with its daily output of 300,000 cubic meters of natural gas officially flowing into the West-East Gas Pipeline network. The well, with a total drilling depth of 8,473 meters, broke two records for the deepest burial depth and highest oil pressure in the Kelasu sub-salt gas reservoir, adding a powerful deep well to the main gas source area of the West-East Gas Pipeline.
Located in Baicheng County, Xinjiang, the Keshen 41 well is a key exploratory well for Tarim Oilfield, targeting ultra-deep formations and searching for replacement resources in the main gas supply area of the West-East Gas Pipeline. The well encountered good oil and gas indications in the target formation, with the liquid-gas separator ignition test flame reaching 15 meters, strongly confirming that the Kelasu structural belt remains a "rich mine" of natural gas at depths of 7,500 meters. This marks another breakthrough for Tarim Oilfield in the field of ultra-deep oil and gas exploration.
"The successful commissioning of the Kesheng 41 well signifies that we have found a new 'front' in the ultra-deep strata," said Nie Yanbo, Party Branch Secretary and Deputy Director of the Oil and Gas Reservoir Geology Research Institute of the Kela Oil and Gas Management Area of Tarim Oilfield. The well is buried at a depth of over 8,400 meters, with complex geological conditions, making surface construction and commissioning extremely difficult. To expedite gas production and contribute to the West-East Gas Pipeline as soon as possible, the Kela Oil and Gas Management Area adhered to a "problem-oriented, efficiency-first" approach, addressing each issue individually, and initiated surface engineering ahead of schedule, commencing production 27 days ahead of schedule, with production capacity meeting expectations.
The Kesheng gas field, as one of the main gas fields for the West-East Gas Pipeline, has its main producing layers at depths of 6,000 to 8,000 meters. In recent years, Tarim Oilfield has continuously ventured into the deeper parts of the earth, developing high-quality Kesheng 9 and Kesheng 31 blocks at depths exceeding 8,000 meters, and drilling 11 natural gas wells exceeding 8,000 meters in depth. The successful commissioning of the Keshen 41 well marks another milestone in the Tarim Oilfield's deep exploration and development of ultra-deep natural gas. It not only provides a solid basis for the large-scale increase in reserves and efficient development of the Kelasu sub-salt gas reservoir, but also adds a continuous source of deep-ground gas to the West-to-East Gas Pipeline project.
Currently, the Tarim Oilfield continues to deepen the production management of natural gas wells deeper than 8,000 meters, systematically reviews the geological understanding and engineering experience of ultra-deep wells, further tackles the geological patterns of ultra-deep natural gas, and conducts precise reserve evaluation, laying a solid foundation for the stable gas supply of the West-to-East Gas Pipeline and ensuring a secure energy supply.

Jilin Oilfield fills the gap in high-temperature water-drive reservoir profile modification technology
On May 5th, reporters learned from Jilin Oilfield that the high-temperature resistant, high-strength, water-absorbing, and expanding particulate plugging agent developed by the Oil and Gas Technology Research Institute of Jilin Oilfield has completed its first pilot test in the Yitong 45-2-6 well group. The test block showed a good development trend with a decrease in liquid volume, an increase in oil volume, and a decrease in water cut, demonstrating significant effectiveness in water channeling control.
At the beginning of this year, the high-temperature resistant, high-strength, water-absorbing, and expanding particulate plugging agent entered the field testing phase. Indoor experimental data shows that the plugging agent can remain stable for 14 months at a high temperature of 95 degrees Celsius, exhibiting excellent rebound and anti-aging properties. Its plugging capacity is 15 times higher than conventional products, and its water absorption and expansion ratio is stable and controllable. It also exhibits good suspension properties in complex chemical solutions, providing new technical support for stable oil production and water control, and efficient development in old oilfields. Currently, the product has completed pilot production. After its application in the Yitong 45-2-6 well group, the water injection pressure in the well group has steadily increased, the effective period of the measure is as long as 16 months, and the output-input ratio reaches 2.1, exceeding the expected results.
For a long time, the high-temperature reservoirs of Jilin Oilfield have faced frequent problems such as softening and degradation, and performance decline of conventional particulate plugging agents due to high formation temperatures and complex water quality, resulting in a significant reduction in plugging effectiveness. To address this technical challenge, the Jilin Oilfield Oil and Gas Process Research Institute, based on actual production needs, began tackling the key strengths of a single plugging agent in 2022. They innovatively introduced water-stopping materials from the construction industry and, through physicochemical modification and optimization, targeted key technical bottlenecks in plugging agents, such as high-temperature resistance, deformation capacity, and water absorption and expansion. This led to the successful development of a new type of high-strength, water-absorbing, and expanding particulate plugging agent, filling the gap in profile control technology for high-temperature water-drive reservoirs in Jilin Oilfield.

Jinxi Petrochemical Water Tracing Retrofit Project Improves Comprehensive Energy Utilization Efficiency
On March 23, reporters learned from Jinxi Petrochemical that the water-based heat tracing renovation project at the Liaohe tank area of the East Oil Products Unit in the company's Storage and Transportation Department has saved over 3,700 tons of steam and generated over 650,000 yuan in energy savings since its operation began a month and a half ago. This marks a solid step forward for the company on its path to green and low-carbon transformation.
Previously, Jinxi Petrochemical had completed the water-based heat tracing renovation of its heavy oil catalytic cracking unit, accumulating valuable experience. This water-based heat tracing renovation of the Liaohe tank area in the East Oil Products Unit was implemented using the existing plant's west-side hot water system, balancing energy efficiency and production safety. Hot water was used instead of traditional steam as the heat tracing medium, reducing steam consumption at the source and further improving overall energy utilization efficiency.
To ensure continuous and stable production and operational safety, the original steam heating system was retained during the renovation process, creating a "hot water + steam" dual-insurance heat tracing mode. When the hot water system malfunctions or extreme weather conditions prevent stable tank temperatures, the system can quickly switch to steam heating mode to ensure that the crude oil temperature inside the tank meets safe production requirements.
Jinxi Petrochemical regards energy conservation and efficiency improvement as an important means of high-quality development, and continues to promote energy-saving technological transformation projects such as replacing steam tracing with water tracing, thereby reducing steam consumption, compressing production costs, promoting more efficient and balanced utilization of heat resources throughout the plant, deepening the optimization of the energy system, and embarking on the path of high-quality development.

The Turpan-Hami Oilfield's million-kilowatt-level new energy project is accelerating its development
On March 24, at the construction sites of the 1 million kilowatt wind power project in Shanshan, Turpan, and the 1 million kilowatt photovoltaic project in Shanshan East, Turpan-Hami Oilfield, machines roared and workers operated in an orderly manner, marking the rapid progress of the construction of these two million-kilowatt-level new energy projects.
Turpan, known as the "Wind Treasure Trove" and "China's Heat Pole," boasts natural conditions ideal for wind and solar power development. The Xiaocaohu "Thirty-Mile Wind Zone" has abundant wind resources year-round, with an average annual wind speed exceeding 8 meters per second and extreme gusts reaching level 14; it also enjoys ample sunshine, with over 3,200 hours of sunshine annually, making it a veritable "green energy treasure trove."
As a key initiative in China National Petroleum Corporation's (CNPC) new energy strategy in Xinjiang, these two million-kilowatt new energy projects are crucial to the transformation and development of Turpan-Hami Oilfield, and are scheduled to commence in September and December 2025, respectively. Among them, the Shanshan 1 million kW wind power project is China National Petroleum Corporation's first million-kilowatt-level wind power project in Xinjiang. It will install 160 wind turbine units with a single unit capacity of 6.25 MW, employing industry-leading technology, boasting high power generation efficiency and strong stability. The Shanshan East 1 million kW photovoltaic project uses high-efficiency N-type photovoltaic modules, with a planned installation of approximately 1.9 million modules, covering a total area of approximately 29,000 mu. A 100 MW/200 MWh electrochemical energy storage system will be constructed concurrently, achieving intelligent management throughout the entire process through a smart operation and maintenance platform. This will significantly improve power generation efficiency and safety stability, effectively mitigating the volatility of new energy power generation and promoting the project's development towards high-end and intelligent features.
To ensure the smooth progress and high-quality completion of the project, Tuha Oilfield has drawn key personnel to form a project construction management department and a support and guarantee team, strengthening safety management and quality control. Liaohe Oilfield Jinhai Oil Production Plant's integrated process solves sand production problem
On March 5th, at the site of well 38-39-K033CH in Jinhai Oil Production Plant of Liaohe Oilfield, the well successfully overcame the long-term problem of sand production after applying gravel packing technology, and the daily oil production stabilized at 2.2 tons. This marks the first successful application of the integrated technology of "small-bore special tubing string + top packing" in this type of well, filling the gap in efficient sand control technology for small-bore horizontal wells in Liaohe Oilfield.
Previously, well 38-39-K033CH, due to the use of 5-inch casing, a typical small-bore specification, faced technical challenges such as high packing friction and small annular space in the horizontal section. Conventional processes could not effectively control sand, and the well's production capacity was greatly restricted. To overcome this bottleneck, in December 2025, Jinhai Oil Production Plant, in conjunction with the Liaohe Oilfield Oil Production Research Institute, established a special technical team to conduct multiple rounds of scheme demonstrations. The technical team optimized construction parameters through precise numerical simulation, innovatively customized a special packing string and core tools suitable for 5-inch wellbores, and introduced top packing technology for the first time, forming an integrated process solution of "specialized small-bore string + top packing," solving key problems such as insufficient sand-carrying capacity in small annulus and easy dehydration of slurry.
Facing the challenges of continuous operation, the technical team meticulously controlled key stages throughout the entire process, including string running, packer setting, and gravel packing, monitoring pressure in real time and dynamically adjusting the sand ratio and pump flow rate to ensure a smooth and efficient packing process and meet packing quality standards. As of the end of February, the well's daily oil production reached 3.6 tons, demonstrating significant results in sand control and increased production capacity.

Tarim Oilfield successfully completed its first trial of the deployable electric pump lift technology
On January 21, the Lunnan 3-2-13X well in the Tarim Oilfield officially commenced production. This well successfully completed the installation and one-time trial pumping of a deployable electric pump in mid-January, achieving the required standards at a depth of 2500 meters. This provides a new technical approach for Tarim Oilfield's electric pump lift technology to cope with complex operating conditions, significantly reduce maintenance costs, and improve efficiency.
Electric pump lift is an important artificial lifting method for crude oil production in oilfields. With the continuous advancement of oil and gas development in the Tarim Oilfield, electric pump wells generally face complex production environments such as heavy oil asphalt deposits, sand jamming, and high gas-liquid ratios after gas injection, leading to increased unit failure rates and shorter pump maintenance cycles. This technology uses a double-layer tubing string combination of an outer cylinder and an inner cylinder. When the electric pump unit fails, there is no need to use a large workover rig for a complete set of tripping operations. Only a conventional steel cable trolley and a special retrieval tool are needed to safely and reliably retrieve the inner cylinder unit from the wellhead, replace it with a new unit, and put it back into operation. The outer tubing and cables remained stationary throughout the process, significantly reducing pump inspection time and lowering operating costs.
This successful test represents not only a major technological breakthrough for Tarim Oilfield in the field of lifting technology, but also provides a brand-new solution for improving the quality and efficiency of deep wells and wells under complex operating conditions in older oilfields.
